Harp On Church is a chef-owned restaurant, the creation of Willimantic local, Matt Hardisty. After attending Johnson & Whales, Matt continued to refine his talent in various restaurants in New York, Providence, and Connecticut. Wanting to develop a menu and his creativity on his own terms, opening his own restaurant was a natural next step.
Not just an incredible chef, Matt farms his own produce on his property in Chaplin to be featured on the menu. Growing heirloom tomatoes, sprouts, squash and more thorughout the year, you can find dishes on the menu with items he harvests. Matt also heads to Rhode Island and
surf-catches bass that is often on for special at the Harp.
When eating at Harp On Church, you can enjoy dishes that feature local farmers and vendors in the Willimantic area. Apis Verde in Lebanon are good friends and provide some of the amazing produce highlighted throughout the year. All of the burgers on the menu feature locally raised beef from Valley Farms in Mansfield and our friendly neighbor, the Willimantic
Co-Op, supplies the restaurant.
The Harp On Church gives greater meaning to the word "roots". Whether it be the Irish ones highlighted throughout the restaurant and the menu, the Willimantic roots or the veggie kind, you can feel the commitment to heritage as soon as you walk through the door.
